Volunteering to take the underprivileged to an amusement park

A fun trip to the amusement park

As a student, I understand the pressure and stress we are constantly under due to academics and exams. I always appreciate a break from the monotony of school and exams. Hence, I and my friend who founded the smile organization which works on teaching sports to the underprivileged decided to take the underprivileged on an excursion to Wonderla. On 25th January 2023, we took kids from the GSR orphanage to Wonderla, an amusement park. Before discussing the trip to Wonderla in greater detail, let me provide some background information about the Hyderabad Cleft Society. This organisation works to educate disadvantaged and orphaned children born with cleft lips. We arrived at the amusement park at 11:30 via 2 buses with 94 children in total.

There were children of various ages present, and my primary responsibility, and that of my friend was to supervise the children and ensure that they did not become injured or lost. We were given swimming costumes as soon as we arrived at the theme park because those or other appropriate attire is needed to ride the water slides and go on the rides. The younger children rode the kiddie rides, including the carousel and bumper cars. My friend and I accompanied the younger children on the bumper cars. A small fire or malfunction happened right after the younger children had finished playing in the kiddie rides, giving us a small scare. Fortunately, the younger children were already on another ride because they had just finished the one they were on. The older kids did rides such as the rollercoaster and t-rex flip where you are seated and flipped in different directions. Around 1:30, when the dry rides were over, we had lunch in the cafeteria. Around a large table, we all ate, conversed, and enjoyed each other's company before deciding to visit the water rides after the meal was finished. We started off by having fun spattering water at one another in the wave pool. I had the time of my life doing that as I simply love the wave pool. Then, we went down a number of water slides, including the Tornado, The Drop, and others, to get an adrenaline rush.

I personally had lots of fun and enjoyed the visit to Wonderla. The kids were very well-behaved and called me Akka, which means sister. As soon as we walked into the amusement park, I could see the kid's excitement they were all fidgety and jumping with joy when they went to get their swimwear and change. It warmed my heart to see their happy faces and how quickly they forgot about their exam worries and stress. The fact that there were too many children, particularly young ones, running around to various rides and generally making a mess made it difficult to keep track of everyone, which was a problem. More volunteers, I believe, were needed, but overall, it was a fantastic opportunity to spend time with the kids while doing something different.

Economic globalization has rapidly spread over the past years. With the rapid spread of globalization, culture has been changed and global culture has developed. Due to increasing globalization and the emergence of a global culture a lot of contrasting ideas and perspectives on what this means for us have developed. Globalization is not easy to define as some view it as a positive process while others view it as negative. While some people predict that that global culture over time will create a more peaceful world and connect people others worry that there will be a higher price to pay for having a global culture. In my opinion, though global culture will create peace in terms of reduced conflict ca...
